Intimate Wedding in the Woods • Marina + Carly

Marina and Carly, sweethearts since high school for the past 13 years (!!), were originally supposed to celebrate their marriage this August in Seattle. Like many couples who had big wedding dreams for 2020, COVID-19 had a major impact on their original plans.

These two took this big hit with grace, deciding they wanted nothing more than to make it official this year anyways. On the fly, they planned for a backup intimate wedding with only their immediate families in the North woods of Minnesota. For their small wedding, they rented a beautiful cabin in Pequot Lakes near Brainerd, Minnesota. We spent the morning meeting all of their very most important VIPs, and watched as both of them transformed into brides. Fun fact: Carly designed and sewed her own dress - SO impressive. Their first look was by far one of the most touching parts of the day, as well as their highly personal ceremony by the lake officiated by their best friend. After signing their license, the crew celebrated with toasts and a blessing circle of speeches by each of their parents and grandparents. A sunset dinner by the lake closed out their stunning, sweet day.

This year has been extremely challenging for many people. In spite of all of this, there are many elements of “the year of the micro wedding” that have put things in perspective, and allowed for a focus on what matters most. We of course look forward to future days of big parties and packed dance floors, but for now we are so thankful to be allowed to witness days as profound as these!
